Faculty Stories About Sakai

Track: Using Sakai

Description: This session is aimed at those who support faculty that are using Sakai and that are interested in issues relating to improving Sakai workflows, documentation and workshops.  We envision it as part presentation and part conversation with session attendees who will be invited to share their faculty stories and tips for working with faculty.

We interviewed faculty on and off camera to ask them how they go about conceptualizing and creating their courses in Sakai (TRACS).  We also asked them about their reactions to Sakai 3 as demonstrated in the online video by Michael Korcuska.

Presenters:  Salwa Khan (  and Whitten Smart ( from Texas State University-San Marcos.

Background:  Texas State's implementation of Sakai is called TRACS--Teaching Research and Collaboration System.  We are currently using Sakai 2.5.3.  We have a student population of 30,000 as well as approximately 5-thousand faculty and staff.
