Audio recording:

20100623SakaiT_Lcall.mp3 (56MB) - Recorded off of Skype using Audacity.  Audio levels vary widely, and there is one spot during the introductions where I accidentally killed the application (sorry Roger!).  I'll try to do a better job next time.  - ken

Improve T&L Communication

-     Kim:  where should we be working to strengthen connections (conferences)?

-     Newcomers want to "pop in" more easily

-     Types of communication:

-     Internal communication: share what's happening to the community

-     External communication: get Sakai out there

-     Josh: create a brain dump list of suggestions http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/PED/Communications+Brainstorming

-     Might be able to engage Communication students to help develop a Comm Plan both internal and external.

-     Mathieu and Robin expressed interest, there (wink)

-     Conference Outcomes >  Consider building a stronger  connection with EDUCAUSE ELI. http://net.educause.edu/Program/1025897

Need to post notes to confluence
Want to have a method for asynch communication
Put ideas in communication brainstorming page

What about a Sakai site?  Better document repository, with file organization.
Mathieu has set one up at Delaware.  BUT some questions are coming up:
1.  Will discussion items trigger e-mail? - No, we use Forums. We could use Announcements and make messages "high priority". Files can also be made "high priority".
2.  Will contents be closed to curious newcomers? - Yes, but if they send me an email requesting access (mathieu@udel.edu), they will be added.

Sakai Learning Capabilities Design Lenses
Conference Outcomes > There was discussion of moving  this work into a more practical domain by engaging with some of the  Sakai 3 efforts and applying the current lenses to some of the current  and future work.  This effort would likely then inform a refining of the  Lenses and a 2.0 release.

-     Next big bucket of work: refinement, version 2.0.

-     Sakai 3 roadmap connections? Use the lenses against the roadmap (short to mid-term).

-    http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/SAKDEV/Sakai+3+Roadmap

David: Once we get a design leader we may get requests--we need this info, in this format, by this date.

Action Item for Next Call >Look at roadmap & brainstorm
Who will follow up? > Philip? (smile)

2011 Teaching with Sakai Innovation Award
Conference Outcomes > May want to consider moving  towards a more formal process for committee selection.  There were many  other suggestions put forward during the conference BOF (http://titanpad.com/5cYGI1hjDM)

-     Discussions about the award should be public.

-     Mathieu created a project site  to support the 2011 TWSIA process.

-     People who want to get involved should contact Mathieu (mathieu@udel.edu) to request an account.

-     What needs to be private?

-     Judging

-    Shared documents

-     Lots of conversions around a repository:

-     Effective practices

-     Templates and pieces

-     Course examples

-     Openedpractices as this repository?

-     Build a list of institutions with contacts / subjects / look at notes / types of involvement

I would like to thank everyone for these notes and for the Call podcast. As was noted in the call the time here in Europe is terrible to join in live. This has really helped me keep up with the discussion, notes and audio were really a good combination. I'll be visiting the various confluence sites to see if I can add anything.
