The assignment submission is what is turned in to satisfy a posted assignment description, typically submitted by a student to an instructor. The content of such a submission will depend on the nature of the description, even to the point that the assignment description asks that assignments be submitted out of band (and so the software will not handle them), but it may contain:

  • A block of inline text
  • Attached file(s) of any sort
  • Feedback from each reviewer, including:
    • a timestamp of when feedback was posted
    • the identity of the reviewer (though the identity may be 'anonymous')

A submission may very well be a complex object containing several simple submissions (e.g. first draft, second draft, final paper), as determined by the assignment description.
