Porting Sakai to Other Application Servers and Databases
Sakai generally is deployed using Tomcat as the application server and either MySQL or Oracle as its database. Marist College, IBM, and Rsmart are wrapping up work on getting Sakai to run in Websphere and use DB2. This work will be included in the next major Sakai release. As a byproduct of this effort they have put together a nice video describing their experiences porting Sakai to use these platforms and offer observations on making Sakai more portable in general; certainly of interest to anyone else out there who is considering porting Sakai to additional application servers and databases.
