Meeting Notes

feedback from ucamp

  • devs and designers need more leadtime
  • explain design takes a while
  • setting up dev environment is a big hurdle
    • make sure devs know which tool, and which files they will need to edit
    • identify lead developers, who are responsible for dev environment before the session
    • team leads should have latest verion of tool to be worked on
  • ways to involve all members of the group (projectors)
  • level of difficulty should be taken into account (make sure the goal is realistic in the time alloted)
  • can we extend the 'sprint' section into a whole day?
  • can we integrate the educational portion of ucamp more closely with the core sakai sessions (intro to sakai talks?)
  • can we give people more 'on-ramps' into UCD, maybe have a short usability 'primer' that is seperate
  • we will create a wiki page and solicit feedback from participants (barbara)
  • barbara has created a 'how to plan a ucamp' page on the wiki for future reference
  • lightning talks were successful
  • maybe have more lightning talks and less longer talks, keep talks less than 30 minutes
  • how do we encourage that the work continue past the ucamp?
    • start before the ucamp - find out who is working on what, and try to integrate with that work
    • work has continued on membership tool at stanford
