Please add examples of scenarios in which version control would be useful in Sakai's resources tool. Give as much or as little detail as necessary to explain the requirement and the nature of the functionality that satisfies the requirement.
This page is for brainstorming. Some ideas that are mentioned here may not be realistic. We'll do more evaluation before arriving at decisions about what should be implemented. For now, please let the brainstorming happen.

Later the instructor fixes a few typos in the document and posts a revised version by replacing the original pdf file with the revised pdf file. The "info" page seen by students will indicate that the document was modified by the instructor on a certain date. It will also indicate that this is version 2 of the document, but it will not give students access to the contents of version 1 (which could lead to confusion, especially if version 1 contained information that is no longer accurate or relevant).

They are given a folder in the course site's resources tool where they have permissions to create and modify documents. As they work, they update their shared files (word-processor documents, spreadsheets, powerpoint presentations, etc). They are able at any point to revert to an earlier version of a file. They are also able to view a graphical display showing what changes were made from one version to another.
