Virginia Tech is piloting Sakai in Fall 2005 to research groups and a few interested instructors. It will be introduced through training workshops.
In Spring 2006, Sakai will be presented to a larger pilot group for use in teaching. A limited number of instructors will use it to teach courses. A full roll out is planned for Fall 2006.
