Controlling Email from Work Sites

The email archive tool in a worksite acts much like a listserv for members of the worksite. You have two options to stop email messages coming from a work site:

Unjoin the Worksite

This is done using the Membership tool in MyWorksite.

  1. Log into Sakai Collaboration at http://collab.sakaiproject.org/portal
  2. Under the My Workspace tab, select Membership.
  3. Place a checkmark next to each worksite you're interested in, then
choose 'join' or 'unjoin' to change your membership.

Block Messages

Block messages sent to worksites on the Sakai Collaboration site from
being delivered to you. This is a global setting, that is, you cannot
block email from a single worksite. This is done using the Preferences
tool in My Worksite.

  1. Log into Sakai Collaboration at http://collab.sakaiproject.org/portal
  2. From My Workspace, you can set preferences for how often you receive
email messages and announcements from your course sites or project
    sites.
  3. You may also choose to block email notifications from the site's
Email Archive, Discussion, or Resources tools.

You cannot adjust your preferences for individual sites. For
example, if you change your email notification to daily digest, you will
get a daily email from all sites to which you belong. Or, if you choose
to block announcements, notifications about posted announcements will be
blocked for all sites. Also, you cannot block receipt of high priority
notifications.

To change your notification preferences, follow these steps:

  1. Click the MyWorkspace tab.
  2. From the menubar, click Preferences, and then click Edit.
  3. Under "Low Priority Notifications", select the frequency in which you
would like to receive announcements, email messages, or notifications
about resources posted to the site. The options are as follows:
  4. If you wish to get email each time someone sends an email message to the
site, or posts an announcement or resource, check receive individually
    when posted.
  5. If you would rather receive one email each day that includes all the
email messages or other postings, check daily digest.
  6. If you do not wish to receive notifications, check block.
  7. When you are finished setting your notification preferences, click
Update Preferences, or click Cancel to clear your changes.
