This is a placeholder for the cycling BOF that's been discussed on the listserv.
There are lots of possibilities: good road riding - long, short, medium. There are some nice rides that start from the hotel and take you along PCH, and then into the foothills of Orange County if you want to go a bit further. There's a nice bike trail along the Santa Ana River that starts about 8 miles from the hotel and goes for 30ish miles - all quite flat. The bike trail scenic value varies - some of it is quite nice, and other parts are a bit industrial, but the path itself is very high quality.
There's also some fantastic mountain biking within 30 minutes of Newport Beach. I'm leaning towards bringing my mountain bike this time around - any other takers? I could probably drive a few people out to the trails...
Post something here if you're interested, and include some information about what type of riding you'd like to do, how far, how fast, when you might want to go, etc.
Should be fun!

ps: I don't live in the OC anymore (I'm in northern California now), but I went to grad school at UC Irvine, so I know the area fairly well. I'm more familiar with the mountain biking than the road riding, but I've done a fair amount of road rides around there. So if there are other locals who want to lead a road ride, speak up!

Also on the off chance that there are any other trackies out there in Sakai land, I'll probably try to head to the ADT center (http://lavelodrome.org) at least once and have room in my car.
